SensiCLENE
Self-Cleaning
Technology

SensiCLENE is Halogen's patented self-cleaning system that uses a magnetically coupled impeller to continuously cycle proprietary polymer beads across the sensor electrodes and pH probe — preventing biofouling, mineral scaling, and chemical buildup that cause drift in conventional sensors. Set maintenance and reference-check intervals for the installed model and water conditions; self-cleaning does not eliminate those checks.

The Mechanism

How SensiCLENE Works

At the core of SensiCLENE technology is a magnetically coupled impeller system. This built-in component continuously cycles proprietary polymer beads over the sensor's electrodes and pH probe.

This physical scrubbing action prevents bio-fouling, mineral scaling, and chemical build-up before it can impact data accuracy. By keeping the interface clean at all times, SensiCLENE eliminates the “sensor drift” that typically plagues chlorine and pH monitoring systems.

Quick Maintenance at Long Intervals

Industrial monitoring shouldn't require weekly attention. Cleaning beads are a routine consumable. Inspect the impeller and pH components and replace according to condition; extreme water conditions can shorten pH electrode life.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is SensiCLENE?

SensiCLENE is Halogen’s patented self-cleaning system that uses a magnetically coupled impeller to continuously cycle proprietary polymer beads across the sensor electrodes and pH probe, preventing biofouling, mineral scaling, and chemical buildup that causes sensor drift.

How long between maintenance intervals?

In most drinking water applications, sensors with SensiCLENE hold calibration for six months or more and require only an annual cleaning-bead replacement, which takes under five minutes and does not require recalibration. Other parts can last substantially longer than a year; inspect them and follow the model manual. Extreme water conditions may shorten pH electrode life.

Why do conventional chlorine sensors require frequent maintenance?

Traditional membrane-covered and bare-electrode sensors accumulate biofilm, mineral scale, and organic matter on their electrode surfaces, causing measurement drift. Without a self-cleaning mechanism, operators must manually clean and recalibrate sensors monthly or more frequently.

What wear parts does SensiCLENE use?

Only the polymer cleaning beads require annual replacement. The other wear parts — the screened sensor cover and magnetically coupled impeller — last many years. All can be swapped in under five minutes without specialized tools.

Does SensiCLENE affect sensor accuracy?

No. The continuous gentle scrubbing action keeps electrode surfaces clean without abrading them. Calibration remains stable, and the annual bead replacement does not require recalibration.
