WasteWater

Halogen Systems MP5™ Chlorine Analyzer Designed For Wastewater Treatment Plants

Designed to measure five parameters, the MP5™ Chlorine Analyzer is in one integrated package. It uses proprietary technology that maintains a stable calibration for months despite complex environments like water reclamation.
We use bare electrodes, eliminating the need to replace clogged membranes or replenish electrolyte required by conventional amperometric sensors. The result? Much lower maintenance requirements. Other amperometric sensors become inaccurate over time from diluted electrolyte and require periodic sensor recalibration. Our sensor removes the need for this. Its self-cleaning feature is made with polymeric beads and abrade the electrodes to minimize biofouling and removes any calcium buildup. (SensiCLÉNE™)

Municipal Drinking Water

Chlorine Sensor for Drinking Water Distribution Systems

Drinking-water distribution systems present unique challenges for residual chlorine monitoring. Below is a list of some characteristics of HSI’s new chlorine sensor based on its Seawater Platform:

  • Low cost of operation
  • Long-term unattended operation
  • Operation and accuracy at varying flow rates
  • No discharge of reagents or a waste stream
  • Reliable performance
  • Connection to a SCADA system
  • Hot Tap Installation for immersion into a pipe
  • Life-time chlorine sensor
  • Long intervals between calibrations
  • Differential pH sensor ( with 2 to 3-year life)
  • Low initial cost

Commercial swimming pools

Halogen Systems Free Chlorine sensor uses the amperometric technique (PPM) and is ideally suited for use in swimming pools. Since many operators are accustomed to using the ORP methodology, the Swimming Pool Controller displays both ORP and PPM chlorine by default. The ORP method uses a patent-pending method Rapid Response ORPTM prevents absorption of organics when high levels of cyanuric acid are present (see below).

A Multi-Parameter Chlorine Sensor that Measures Five Parameters:
  • Free Chlorine
  • pH
  • Rapid Response ORPTM
  • Conductivity
  • Temperature
Unique Features:
  • Self-cleaning electrodes
  • Flow independent operation
  • Long-life free chlorine sensor
  • Replaceable pH cartridge
  • Low maintenance
  • No reagents, electrolyte, or membranes to replace

Cooling Towers

Cooling towers are notoriously difficult applications for chlorine sensors and bromine sensors.
Many systems operate at high cycles of concentration due to the conductivity and hardness found in water. To slow the formation of build-up, many operators use film-forming corrosion inhibitors. The resulting organic contaminants make it difficult to read chlorine levels in the system’s water. HSI’s chlorine sensor is ideally suited for these challenging applications. Not only can it measure both chlorine and bromine, but it is also self-cleaning the electrodes continuously. Its built-in conductivity sensor can eliminate several discrete sensors.
