MP5™ Online Chlorine Analyzer for PVC-Tee Deployment

Overview

The Halogen MP5™ mid-flange housing (D-H1MF-P) allows the sensor to be inserted into a pipe, providing online near-time monitoring. The MP5™ is unaffected by flow or pressure and the PVC-Tee installation option allows for installing a bypass for fast yearly maintenance of the wear parts in the SensiCLĒNE™ system.

The MP5™ is the only chlorine analyzer certified for NSF-61 use in drinking water with no required waste stream and this deployment option takes full advantage of that approval.  The small footprint and available cellular telemetry option make this deployment a good choice for remote monitoring of grid hotspots, or end-of-line residuals reporting.

Why Use the MP5™ in a PVC-Tee Deployment?

Flow Independent Measurement

The sensor generates its own flow. Even relatively still tanks can be analyzed for water aging, nitrification, etc and cooling tower troughs can be monitored. The integrated pump creates a fixed velocity across the electrodes, which improves sensitivity while lowering the Signal-to-Noise Ratio.

No Waste Stream

Approved for NSF-61 usage, the MP5™ can be installed directly into a standard PVC-Tee in a drinking water pipe using the adapter sleeve and a collar in either PVC or Stainless options.

Once installed, operators gain accurate reporting of the water inside the tank or trough without having meters of sample tubing between the source and the analyzer, enabling faster, better decisions based on near-time data.

Because there’s no waste stream, there’s no non-revenue water wasted for testing, making the PVC-Tee deployment for the MP5™ Chlorine Analyzer a great option for remote and off-grid reservoir monitoring

SensiCLĒNE™ Patented Self-Cleaning Technology

A patented electrochemical cleaning method called SensiCLĒNE™  resists polarization and adsorption of organics.  Motivated by the flow from the pump, captive polymer cleaning beads continuously abrade the sensor. This keeps the electrode surfaces, including the pH sensor, free from buildup, scaling, and biofouling. Solid metal electrodes last the life of the system.

Easy Monitoring

A local display provides onsite viewing of parameters for up to 5 separate MP5™ units and a cellular telemetry option can cache and report at programmed intervals for off-grid monitoring.

Ease of Service

The annual wear-parts maintenance takes only minutes and does not affect calibration. Halogen’s removal tool (and available duo-drive adapter) makes installation quick and easy.

Monitor 5 parameters directly in drinking water pipes at flows from 0- 4m/s & up to 10 bar/150 psi. A retractor/removal tool is available (pictured at left). Wet Tap (or Hot Tap) housing can be deployed as a retractable NSF-61 in-pipe Chlorine analyzer.

The mid-flange housing (H1MF-P) and the associated 2″ adapter sleeve and collar kit make for an easy sidestream NSF-61 PVC Tee deploymentThis configuration fits an OTS 2” PVC Tee and requires a  threaded adapter (PT-01).

The low-flange model (H1LF-P) adapts for side-stream monitoring to replace an existing control-board-mounted sensor or can be submerged in a clearwell. Submersible deployments use a standard 1” PVC Boom Mount. Flow Cell optional.
