Halogen MP5™ for
Aquaculture Applications

Deploy the Halogen MP5™ Chlorine Sensor for Ultra-low Range Chlorine Monitoring in Aquaculture Facilities

While chlorine is an important part of culling the contaminants in source water, even very small amounts of it can be harmful to fish. Monitoring is therefore essential.

Aquaculture is an increasingly important part of the earth’s food supply and a major economic driver worldwide.  Aquaculture operators must maintain a fine balance in managing the disparate requirements of inflow water quality, tank conditioning, feeding requirements, and outflow conditioning. While chlorine is an important part of culling the contaminants in source water, even very small amounts of chlorine (0.1 – 0.3 ppm) can be fatal to fish. Operators must know the residual chlorine levels throughout the system: in the source water, in discharge tanks, and everywhere in between.

The Halogen MP5™ amperometric chlorine sensor detects 0-5 ppm free chlorine. and will continuously monitor 4 additional parameters important to aquaculture success. The MP5™ analyzer reports Free Chlorine, pH, Temperature, Conductivity, and ORP. Deploying multiple MP5™ sensors throughout a facility allows for pinpoint monitoring at each stage of the operation.

The MP5™ is self-cleaning and approved for NSF-61 installations in drinking water pipes with no required waste stream, so operators can deploy sensors everywhere they’d like, in pipes or in tanks.

Amperometric Technology Benefits

Halogen’s patented self-cleaning amperometric chlorine sensors are unnaffected by temperature, flow or turbidity, and can measure 5 parameters in one unit, making it well suited for monitoring all types of aquaculture systems.

Flexible Installation Options

Aquaculture operators must monitor residual chlorine or chloramine throughout the system. The MP5™ has small footprint and flexible deployment options, from wet-tap in-pipe, in a PVC Tee, or simply submerged in a tank.

Remote Monitoring Options

The MP5™ can be deployed using off-grid power and cellular-enabled telemetry options that allow operators to monitor source water, tanks, and outflow lines for five important parameters in near-time or via batched reporting.

Bare Electrode Sensor

Amperometric Sensors have many advantages over the older membrane and reagent technology.  Halogen’s implementation of bare 3-electrode amperometric technology provides pH-stabilized measurements of Free Chlorine without introducing additional complexity to your workflow.

Self Cleaning

The old amperometric technology used by competitor sensors still requires a membrane and electrolyte to guard against sensor fouling. Such membranes are sensitive to flow and pressure spikes. Halogen’s patented SensiCLĒNE™ technology prevents fouling without introducing pressure or flow sensitivity.
