The patented technology in the Halogen® TRO Amperometric Chlorine Sensor allows for Direct Pipe Installations (also called a “Wet Tap installation’) which means there is no need for complicated additional piping for flow-control or waste lines. It is unaffected by flow changes ranging from 0 to 4 meters per second, and tolerates pressures from -.7 bar (-10.15 psi) to 10 bar (147 psi). The TRO sensor contains the only pH sensor on the market that can survive both high and negative pressures within a ballast pipe.

DPD-based systems require a host of flow-control and waste-return lines that must be designed, installed, and maintained. In addition to replacing membranes and reagent, calibrations are a full-time job for maintenance teams. Recognized by the US Coast Guard, The Korean Register, and the IMO, the Halogen® TRO™ sensor is allowed for direct replacement of a DPD sensor with no required recertification.
